The last few flights I have had some close calls with birds, mostly eagles and hawks and a flock of ducks.
I have seen several eagles and hawks within 200 yards but one eagle came across my nose at about 30-40', he was there and past before I could even think to react. The altitude varies, most encounters are between 700' and 1200' AGL but the close eagle was at about 200' AGL over water. I have seen hawks at 2500'. They must really have some kind of eyesite to see rodents on the ground at those altitudes!
The next day I had a flock of ducks buzz me with shooting distance at 1700'. Is that called a "duck blind in the sky", maybe bright yellow is an attractant.
Is this a common happening for cub drivers?
