I thought you might find this interesting - the Pietenpol has one of those hidden dipoles in the fuselage, and I have always been suspicious of such things. I have no access to it to see if it has proper termination, but these things can be measured by checking the "Voltage Standing Wave Ratio," or VSWR.
I think I already blew up the transmitter on an expensive Microair 760, and was unwilling to just transmit with the new Garmin GTR-200 without a check.
A buddy at the local avionics shop loaned me a "Bird" Wattmeter - but that requires the transmitter and recordation of Watts each direction, followed by a table look up for the VSWR.
But another buddy to the rescue! This buddy has been in antenna analysis for his entire career. He brought this meter to the airplane, and in a heartbeat it measured VSWR from 116 MHz through 136 MHz. Herewith:
