I live for wind events. They are becoming quite rare around here, but the last two days have been great! Today I took the J4 out to see if it was doable - gusts were 17 on taxi out. By the sixth landing they were calling it 22 kts. The airplane was in flight, just not moving forward.

So we took the Stearman out. Hey, if the J4 can make it, surely the Stearman?

Yep. By the time we quit the tower was calling it 280/19G28, and we were using runway 23. The NWS, or what is left of it, was calling it West at 21G30.

I can tell you the Stearman is capable of more crosswind than I thought possible. We did have a runway into the wind, so we at least had a plan B.

A Great Day!
