I was called out to fix a “stuck” strainer on a Cessna. It was stuck because the rod was packed with a thick, sticky substance I think is fuel lube. My guess is it was used on the o-ring instead of petrolatum or DC4. I thought I might save some time and ask if anyone knows a good way to remove the fuel lube residue. Gas won’t cut it and it doesn’t just wipe off, not to mention I will have to clean out the bore as well.
