Hi All,

Last weekend, I flew my good friend, 'Joey', out to lunch in my 1946 Piper J3 Cub. We flew from my home airport, KLWM, just north of Boston, to Hampton Airfield (7B3), on the New Hampshire seacoast. This flight might not be notable except for the fact that Joey has been totally blind since birth, and had never flown in a small GA airplane! Getting Joey into and out of the front seat of the airplane took a bit of planning and effort, but he followed my instructions precisely, and it was ultimately not a big deal! Ha! Actually, some of my sighted friends don't do as well!

The flight was smooth and uneventful, and Joey flew the airplane for a few minutes. It was a warm day, so we flew with the window open to get the full 'Cub experience'!

At the Hampton Airfield, we enjoyed a great lunch of lobster rolls with fries and onion rings on the outdoor patio at the Airfield Cafe.

After the flight, Joey told me that the flight was one of the most exhilarating things he's ever done, and can't wait to go again! As much fun as it was for him, it was certainly just as fun and gratifying for me!

Piper Cubs are truly magical & timeless machines!

John
