I have a franken J3-65 with C90 and 18 gallon wing tanks (2). It was essentially converted to a PA-11 and looks like one. I elected to have sealed wing struts installed and the new ones from Univair have been painted and mostly installed but they are different than the old ones, which I believe are for a PA-11. Is there any good reason PA-11 struts need to be reinstalled? They are beefier. We can’t find any 337 from the plane’s file or logbook entries that mention PA-11 struts. Perhaps it was done in the past as an effort to cosmetically appear to be a PA-11?
