I'm looking at buying a Cub project (completely in pieces) that came in-country from the UK after spending its entire life in Europe. It was properly deregistered and decertificated in the UK, and now has a new N number assigned by the FAA, but the Piper data plate is missing. The AWC hasn't been issued yet. Does anyone have recent experience with Piper in getting a replacement data plate in this situation? Are they cooperative? Or do they conveniently ignore such requests?
