A while back, I had posted that the change in the tailwheel spring had fixed the tailwheel shimmy. Well....it did for a little bit. The I noticed that the tailwheel unlocked by just doing a quick, firm press on the right rudder. Not safe. So, I looked closer and noticed the cam plate for unlocking the tailwheel was bent.
I then ordered new parts for the tailwheel from Sporty's (steering armassembly - it includes the lock pin, spring, etc, screws, cam). In addiition, we put a solid tailwheel on the plane with a solid tailwheel fork. We also put a 3/16 shim under the tailwheel spring to improve the caster angle. The shimmy is now gone. I liked the feel of the pneumatic tire better, but I can get over that since steering is more responsive, the deck angle is increased on landing, and the shimmy is GONE.
Hope this helps someone else!
