We in Jasper were so sorry to hear that Reklaw will be cancelled this year as I'm sure most of you were also. Jasper Mayor Mike Lout, the Airport Advisory Committe, and our local pilots would like to offer everyone an alternative Fly-In/Campout for the weekend of October 21 - 23, 2011 at Jasper County Bell Field Airport in Jasper, TX (KJAS).
Please make plans to join us in Jasper to enjoy a weekend of flying, hangar flying, food and fellowship. We are putting this event together in a very short time, but hope to have as seemless of an event as possible. Plan to bring your tents, RV's your camping gear and stay overnight with us. Limited accomidations are available and a list of hotels are available at the bottom of this email. We will have food available but are unsure of the costs but speculate that meal costs will not exceed $10.00 per person per meal (as a high estimate). WE ARE IN A COUNTYWIDE BURN BAN AND MUST INSIST THAT ABSOLUTELY NO CAMPFIRES, BBQ PITS OR OPEN FLAMES OF ANY KIND BE ALLOWED. We will have restroom services available with handwashing sinks but will not have shower facilities. If at all possible, we respectfully ask that you RSVP to Quincy Martindale, or Teresa Boyette at Bravo Aviation (our local FBO) for food planning purposes. They will be offering a fuel discount for anyone in attandance at the event. A sign in sheet will be available at the Terminal Building and ask that you please register so we will know who was in attendance.
We look forward to a great aviation weekend/campout here in Jasper and are in no way trying to replace our wonderful Reklaw weekend, just want to offer an alternative this year since the event was cancelled.
Please email me or Teresa with any questions and with your RSVP's.
