Too nice a day to work, so went to Front Royal to check on the annual and strut replacement. Paint not in yet, and everything else buttoned up, so with 70 degree weather and calm wind, off I went for lunch at Cumberland Airport, 55 miles NW. Hoped to spot a red J5 in the area.

Ancient Mexico Farms Airport, MD, just south of Cumberland Airport which is in WV. Grass is looking nice and green. At lunch I talked to Bob Poling who wrote the book "Wings Over Cumberland", and another old timer, Danny Lancaster, who still flys his J-3, and they said the only reason Mexico Farms has lasted this long is that it is in the flood plain, so developers can't steal it and build houses there. Hoped that Jack would show up; I didn't have his phone number.

Pretty sure that is the front of the red J-5 in that hangar to the left of Jack's red pickup.

Jack called later this evening and said he had flown earlier, and yes, he was standing out there thinking that may be me. One of these days I will actually meet someone on this board in addition to Jim Newton!

Great day for flying around here, and I hope many of you also had nice flying today.
