I have a J3 that had a 12 gal (Aero Fabricators) wing tank installed years ago. The transfer valve was located under the panel just aft of the main tank making it impossible to reach from the rear seat. I relocated it to the right wing root so it is now accessible from either seat. To make all fit the line leaving the tank rises ~3/4 of an inch to the valve then starts down hill to the bottom of the main tank. When on the ground fuel transfers fine even in a 3 point attitude but will not in flight. I assume it is the rise that is doing me in. The tank's cap is vented I assume as I did transfer fuel once in flight prior to my relocation of the valve. Would a ram air vented cap as the STC calls out solve my problem?
