Never noticed the slight difference between the L-4B and L-4H/J greenhouse configurations, as shown in the photos (#5 is 1942 L-4B 43-495 s/n 9356). The L-4H/J has 2 additional channels on the top side which gives the greenhouse a more compartmentalized look vs the cleaner, sleeker L-4B look (in my opinion).

Apparently the glass needed extra support. While many L-4B's were updated to L-4H/J standards (as mine was), it seems they didn't always upgrade the greenhouse. My B doesn't have the additional channels, and I have photos of updated post-war CAP L-4B's that retain the original greenhouse configuration. It doesn't seem like a critical update, esp for recreational flying, so I'll stay with the original L-4B configuration.
