Picture of a Piper Cub at Columbus Army Flying School Mississippi 1943.

The large "CO-C" on the side is a "field number" used to track the airplane locally. "CO" was assigned to Columbus. Field numbers were ordered in the Southeast Army Air Forces Training Center area 20 May 1942.

The CO-C is unique. They are usually CO and a number. I wonder if the -C represents the Commanding Officer?

Can anyone tell me anything else about the Cub?
It looks like it has a wood prop, and a bad tire...
