Our A65 started to weep from the crank seal, so I had a good read through the crankseal threads, ordered one (actually two based on the threads) from Aircraft Spruce, plucked up the courage and set to. Flange crank (Superior split seals arrived). First took off the prop and cowlings, then spent an hour digging the old one out. Inspecting the crank seal face and housing face, all looked good. Oiled up a new seal, slipped that on and got spring on, joined and in its grove in ten, then tried fingers, then plastic scrapers, then plastic levers and finally broad screw drivers, two of us at it for over an hour, no joy so a break. Returned to it having been told some need more force, ten mins later seal folded over at the bottom. This one took a mere ten mins to dig out.
Second seal up, 30 mins later it kinked. A frustrating day and now definitely u/s Cub..

Any advice guys? Are the non splits actually easier once over the flange? Any thoughts appreciated
Thanks
Rich
