This thread will be my attempt at documenting what I've done to clean up/restore an old par of Federal A-1500 skis and add the Ultra High Molecular Weight (UHMW) plastic sheet to the bottoms. Not that I will get to use them that much in East Tennessee, but my dad had them for a really long time and they needed some TLC.

First picture is of the skis after my two boys spent the afternoon scrubbing and cleaning them with soapy water. They are in decent shape, with some corrosion present and lots of deep scratches on the bottoms. They have the inserts for the 1.25" axles, but they were held tight with a lot of rust/corrosion. The rubber bushings are very hard, so I don't know if they are still good. I may turn some UHMW rod down to make a new bushing.

Second picture is pretty much the same thing showing a little of the surface corrosion that will need to be cleaned up.
