wood wing varnishing

KAP, and,or anyone else that have built wood wings. I am building wood wings for my Cubby and am about ready to varnish them. My question is did you hand brush, or spray the varnish on. I am using epoxy varnish, and it seems like you would have a lot of wasted product, ( $ and overspray), by spraying, but easier to get in the nooks and crannies. Any ideas or help would be appreciated. Jon
