On a wood spar wing, the #1 compresson tube (made of 3/4" tubing) is attached to the front spar with two bolts. BUT, on the back side, it appears as if it just is an open ended piece of tubing that fits onto / over a 5/16" bolt that is one of the bolts holding the rear wing attach plate (butt plate) to the spar. Can anybody verify this? THere is also a drag wire that attaches to this bolt, but it appears that nothing holds that compression member to the spar other than the "compression" of being trapped between the two spars. The bolt head id forward, with nut on back, so I don't see it any other way. Appreciate the experts.

Another question. are the compression members (and the plane of the drag wires) ninety degrees to the spar, or does the plane tilt up i.e. fits lower onto the front spar and then goes up to the rear spar.

I am building a Wag Aero wood spar, wood rib clipped wing cub. The plans are severely lacking, with many errors.
