Hi everyone and and advanced thanks for anyone who is willing to weigh in on this issue. I have noticed that a few of my plug wires are wadding and chaffed. The wires are individually held in position by a hold down strap as the braided stainless wire spans from magneto to plug. The hold downs are roughing up the wire and it seems the likely remedy might be to wrap up the affected area on the plug wire with electrical tape for padding and of course isolation. I really don't know how much more abuse the wire can take before it grounds out my mag/plug. I think I would rather just replace the whole harness. We've got about 35 years out of the last harness, maybe it's time for a new one. I have a 1945 J3 with a Continental 65 and slick mags.
Happy and safe flying everyone!
