I just received a FAA letter of authorization to replace a missing data plate and not sure which date plate would be correct for the 39 J3 I am restoring. I know it should be the oval shaped one but is it a Cub Sport or Cub Trainer. I would like to install it on the instrument panel as I think that is where it was originally.Log books date back to 1941 and no mention of sport or trainer.Build sheet doesn’t say either.Maybe it doesn’t even matter.
