Have a 46 J3 project and this is my first post. Want to replace the wheel bearings. It has Timkin 08125 bearing and 08231 race. Looking at the Timken website they are the auto bearing with that number and the aviation number has -20269 following which is FAA approved bearing. It cost way more and they say it is made with closer tolerances because the wheels are smaller and turn more RPMs. I have read posts on the forum and seems some of you use the bearings from the auto parts stores. What I would like to know, is it legal to use the auto ones? If those are what Piper used, I have no problem with that. I just want to be legal.

Thanks
Alan G.
