Saw this on a 1942 J-3 Cub today. It's on both the left and right sides. The tubing the extends down from the main spar attach point, where it attaches to the top longarone, at the left and right side of the instrument panel. There's a flat piece of metal that extends up the tubing about 1.5 inches and wraps around it about 1/3 of the way, I believe it's welded to the top longarone too. I've never seen it before. I thought at first it was a tubing splice, but it's not, it's a flat piece of steel. any ideas? Thanks 20180422_114623.jpg
