I have been reading the older threads on this topic and find differing opinions on Vx (from 45 to 53.4 mph). I fly in and out of a number of small grass strips lined by tall trees and seem to be just clearing the trees and I only weigh 135 pounds. I must be doing something wrong.

I am now thinking of climbing at Vx to clear the obstacle and then transitioning to Vy and wondering if it is a safe way to clear high obstacles. Do the variances in props (cruise, climb) and material (wood, metal) come into consideration? I have a 65C J3 with a metal prop and would appreciate your thoughts on the Vx. Thanks Joe
