Has anyone installed the Trig TT22,TN72,TA72 ADSB out bundle in a J3?
Due to space limitations in J3C-65 we decided to install a Trig Transponder in right wing root. Aircraft Spruce offered a ADSB-Out bundle for $2620 that included the TT22 transponder and TN72 GPS source. After receiving the bundle, we cannot clearly determine that it is certificable even after lengthy discussions with Trig. It all depends on the FAA's definition of Light Sport. (J3 being certified under CAR3 is the problem) Trig refuses to say that it can be certificated in a J3 and cannot identify anyone who has ever certified one. We are reordering the TN70 instead of the TN72 which clearly can be certificated in J3, just more money. Unfortunately the FAA is gone due to Government shutdown.
