I have been using the Sigtronics SPO-22 standard portable intercom for a while and find it too noisy when flying with the windows down which is most of the time. When the windows are closed it works just fine because of no wind flutter. I know they make the SPO-22N and several folks here are using it with good results. My question is has anyone used the SoftComm ATC-2YN Portable High Noise Intercom? One of the reasons I am researching this one out is because it has a capability for two 9 volt batteries.

One of the problems I have with the SPO-22 is changing out the battery. It is a pain to get those little screws out and take the front cover off. I replaced them with knurled allen head screws which make is someone easier but still a hassle. Why don't they design one where the access door just pops off?

Any thoughts?
