I'm going to be getting my C-90 PA-11's annual inspection next week and thought it'd be a good time to install a pre-heater. Reiff has a few options...they list data for the O-540, an engine that is significantly larger (greater thermal inertia) than the C-90. I think I'd get much more heating per watt with the C-90. But I'd like some real-world data. I'm thinking that I'll fly in temps down to 20F and usually turn on the preheater remotely about 2 hours before I fly.

I'm curious if anyone has their standard (50W/cylinder and 100watt element on sump) or XP system (100w/cylinder, 200w on oil sump) and can suggest which way might be better to go.

Thanks,

Evan
