I just completed a 1/24-scale display model of a J-3 that I built for a friend who owns the full-size example. I started with a 3-D printed partial "kit" that was highly inaccurate, keeping only the primary sections (fuselage/fin, wing panels, cowl) that still had to be heavily modified. All details, to include the full cockpit, landing gear, engine cylinders, and wing struts, were made from scratch. Over the course of this 17-month project, this forum was absolutely invaluable in my search for accurate component drawings and general information on which to base my improvements. I snapped a few quick photos yesterday to document the occasion, and although not the best quality, they should provide an idea of the final product.
Thank you so much for helping this project succeed.
