I am deciding if it is worth relocating my Cub to our property. But before I sink money into building a hanger and grading a strip, I want to make sure the length available will be ok. My wife, who flies also, isn't keen on me taking up the kids off a strip that will be marginal in length/obstacles for the Cub's performance.
We have been operating with the A65 for the last 15 yrs., but feel we want a change, so have sold the 65 and will soon purchase a C85 stoker and looking at using the Sensenich W72GK44, though we would be happy to use a different prop if performance could be improved.
Our strip to be is 1450' AMSL, grass, average Temp 25c/75f, mean due point about 15c/61f, and QNH averages 1016 hpa.
This gives me, by my calculation, a density altitude of 3000' on an average day.
All of my Cub flying has been from sea level strips, so what takeoff run do you think I'll need?
And not having flown the Cub with anything bigger than the A65, what ROC could I expect with the stoker? Lets say two 180lb people and 1/2 tank of fuel.
Thanks...Richard
