Hi everyone, I hope your area is or will be worming up soon.
I put the new (used) Maule tail wheel on and flew twice. Sure enough today I verified that this tail wheel does not turn the plane as quickly as the old non brake away tail wheel. It does not turn as small a diameter without using brakes and or prop blast with rudder. Today I landed, turned a 180 to back taxi using prop blast and rudder, made the turn, used the rudder pedals to straiten up and she just kept going, almost went into the weeds, fortunately the brakes work. The other non brake away turns the plane immediately with just pedals.
So question is, is this normal for the brake away tailwheel, and I just have to get used to it?

Oh yes, what is the best position for the exhaust pipe, open end (bevelled) facing into the wind or some other direction?

Thanks,

Glenn
