Hey folks,
I was reading an old magazine (1970s) and it had a J3 Cub on the cover. The article was about the early days of Piper and how they sold their J3s to the public in the 1940s. What was interesting was that Piper went around with hundreds of cubs all over the country and gave demo rides to people in hopes of making a sale. The dealers would try and get prospective buyers to solo later in the day after giving them lessons throughout the morning. Several people whom have never flown before did solo same-day. Many bought the cubs that way.

Anyone heard this before? It's in the 1977 edition of FLYING magazine.
