American Legend Aircraft Company Heightens Wintertime Flying Fun With A TrickAir Ski-equipped Legend Cub

SULPHUR SPRINGS, TEXAS, DECEMBER 5, 2007 –

American Legend Aircraft Company announced today the availability of a ski-equipped Legend Cub providing owners the opportunity for snow and ice operations, and scenic wintertime flying. Approval of the Legend Cub for operation on skis was finalized in late-Winter 2007. Now, any Legend Cub can be fitted with TrickAir skis for wintertime flying fun.

The classic tailwheel design of the Legend Cub lends itself intrinsically to flying with skis. The pleasures of wintertime recreational flying and satisfying the flying bug year round are now possible with the addition of TrickAir skis. A ski-equipped Legend Cub can takeoff, land and taxi on snow, ice, grass and even hard surfaced runways without the need to change.

American Legend was the first new light-sport aircraft manufacturer to offer skis as an option. The Legend Cub utilizes a wheel penetration ski design by TrickAir of Weyauwega, Wisconsin. TrickAir skis and the Legend Cub allow avid pilots to fly every chance they get, even as snow and ice cover their favorite runways. The thrill of a ski plane glacier landing and the enjoyment of dramatic scenery that comes with winter weather are now within reach of sport pilots.

The TrickAir ski is a proven performer. According TrickAir president Rick Discher, “Our model 1500 is well-suited to the Legend Cub. Its wheel penetration design allows ease of installation without lifting your airplane. It skirts the wheel and it is shaped like a wing to reduce drag.” Discher continued, “The ski is a composite of materials including vinyl resin, carbon fiber, an expanded PVC core, a structural chromoly frame and replaceable wear strips. The ski rides one-half inch off the ground, so your airplane can be rolled on its own wheels out of the hangar.” Discher has been manufacturing fiberglass components for 30 years for a wide variety of industrial and product manufacturing companies, including many in aviation.

American Legend Aircraft Company is a manufacturer of recreational aircraft that meet light-sport aircraft certification requirements. The American Legend Cub exemplifies the joy of flying. An array of options allow customers to specify their aircraft with unique appeal matched to their individual personality. The timeless design, all-modern Legend Cub will propel your dreams of outdoor adventure.
