We went to Sidnaw this weekend for their Labor Day fly in...it's a small affair but fun. Sidnaw was a WW2 airstrip that had L4's stationed there ( see article in above link)
It also had a German POW camp.....anyway I took Ray...my buddy, the B24 vet (50 Missions out of Cerignola, Italy) thats him and I in the Cub....I had to lift him in and out with help...but he had a blast...he's 94 years old and I looked back and caught him flying his hand out the open window smiling....he and I used to buzz over to Sidnaw together in the 80's....he always told stories about selling rides there in the 1950's...we had a great day! Ray moved to Jacobetti Veterans Home now but obviously still has some life left in him....he asked me if I thought my Cub remembered him ( they have history dating back to the 60's) I assured him that she remembered him well:D
