I want to add shoulder harnesses to my J3, and need some education about the options. Where better to turn than here. I have founds some threads that touch on aspects, but nothing that covers it broadly. Hopefully I can get pointed to a resource, or this thread can become that.

As I currently understand, but not confident in.

1. There is specific FAA exception coverage for this, that’s allows for non-AP installation, non STC installation, I believe under the theory that any restraint system is better than just lap belts, so make it more doable. Is that correct?

2. What STC, engineered solutions are available, mounts to harness for front and rear J3s ( it’s a converted L4, original frame) if that makes a difference.

3 . What is the correct process for cutting the fabric to secure the mounts, and then patch afterwards ?

4. I believe I would be quite unhappy without a reel type belt in the back, so I can freely move forward while flying, how about the front!

Anything else I need to know?

Thanks
