Are there any Cubs around the Richmond, VA area? I would love to see one - and don't even get me started on if I could get a ride in one.
I'm 26 years old, and I've been in love with flying for as long as I can remember. It started with my dad flying me in Cessna 152s when I was a kid, and spending a few days every week on Flight Simulator - right from the days of the Commodor64. Over time, I've had rides front seat in a medical helicopter, had about 8 hours of stick time in an MU-2, and got a few hours towards my PPL in gliders (had to stop because I moved away from the airport I was taking lessons at). I consider myself very fortunate to have those experiences, but I always want more.
The Cub is the ideal aircraft in my eyes. Low and slow, and it goes just about anywhere. If dreams came true, I'd be in the Pacific Northwest doing some bush flying in a Cub with tundra tires. In reality, however, my color vision is not perfect and being a career pilot is out of the question.
Someday I may even own my own Cub. I'd like to restore one - I know nothing about it except one thing...I'd enjoy every minute of it!
In the meantime, I am hoping that there are a few Cubs (and Cub owners) in my area that I can meet and hopefully wouldn't mind at least showing me their Cub. I'd of course be happy to go 50/50 on fuel and buy lunch!
Sorry if this is the wrong forum to post this in - it's the only one that stuck out to me as a "possible" right place.
