I have a total basket case (bare fuselage, missing parts, needs wings/ribs completely rebuilt) J3 Cub project that I would like to rebuild. I am a private pilot. I do not have an A&P license. Can I rebuild a certified cub myself, or does the work have to be done by an A&P? I would like to do the airframe (have the engine professionally done). I would like to do this project myself, and have considered rebuilding it as experimental as greater than 51 percent of the plane will have to be rebuilt. What is the best way to approach this?
