In Remembrance 2023
In case you ever wanted to see puddle welding taken to the Nth degree, this is a recent clip of Peter Aurelius Renzetti, the master blacksmith I apprenticed under for 8 years back in the 70s. He has done literally hundreds of these figures as a hobby. Take a look at some of his collection at the end of the clip.
I watched him hand forge a copy of an 18th century gunpowder flintlock eprouvette for the DuPont Hagley Museum, including the forged springs. Copied the engraved scale markings exactly. When tested with powder, it read exactly the same force as the original. When presented with the finished piece, the curator of the museum was unable to tell them apart. Just amazing skill.
