Well I have to admit to doing another dumb thing twice in the last three days of flying. We have had some great weather here in north central Illinois for November and I've been taking advantage of it. However, with the cold early mornings in the upper 20s and lower 30s the mighty A-65 needs some priming to get going. I usually prime two shots and leave the primer out half way as a choke to keep her idle while its warming up.

Forgot to push the primer in and lock it not once but twice on two different days. Oldtimers is setting in I guess. It coughed and belched with puffs of blue smoke (left side) badly till the RPMs got up and then ran fairly good. Caught it after about ten minutes flight and when I locked the primer the engine smoothed out normally. When I landed both times I found a lot of oily black material on the left gear leg and cowl side. Did I wash the cylinder sides down and did that allow oil to bypass the rings along with a lot of unburned fuel?? I plan on changing the oil in case gas made it way down to the oil tank. Anyone else have this happen?

Thanks much
Bill
