Pitot wing aluminium/ Plasticos tube

Hello to every one, I am finishing the wings in my 1945 wood spars J3 Cub and they are ready for covering. My question is about the aluminium or Plastic tube that go from pitot to the fuselage. This tube go in front of the wood spar or or in the back? The parts catalog show it in the back of the spar, but I have seen some pictures in the front, and my right wing actually has it in front of the spar.
