I have a Continental 85-12 on my Cub. It’s once again annual time and with that comes checking the oil screen. Every year when taking it off and putting it back on I tell myself there’s gotta be a better way but struggle through and resolve to come up with something “next year”. My trouble is getting a wrench on the 1” square nut shape on the back of the housing. I’m considering sacrificing a 1” drive socket. Cutting down the opposite end from the drive end. Having a piece of bar stock welded across for a bridge then sacrifice another socket, 3/8 or 1/2” drive cut down and welded to the bridge. I’m hoping folks here have found an easier solution. Last year I borrowed a 1” crows foot but didn’t have very good luck.
I should add my problem with an open end wrench no matter how I orient I have interference with a motor mount tube or something.
I’m looking for some ideas.
Thanks!
JLK
