Music Seeping through External Antenna

Hi all,

I have an external antenna installed on the roof of my J3 and it works great overall. However, around my home (towered) airport, and over most well-populated areas, I have radio music seep through. I only pick up interference on lower frequencies - 118.xxx or 119.xxx etc. It's usually overpowered when the tower transmits, and typically doesn't affect me being able to hear them. Sometimes though, the static/music seeping through is so loud I can't talk to passengers while simultaneously monitoring tower.

This morning, I plugged in a portable antenna to the radio and that solved the issue. I'm using the Yaesu FTA-550L Pro-X handheld radio. I still prefer the external radio for further range and clarity capabilities. Intercom is the FlightCom IIsx.

Any way I can calibrate the external antennae/radio to be less sensitive?
