If I can make it work I am going to abandon trim tab for a motor controlled jack-screw
trim system. I have some ideas of my own and some from others and think I can come
up with a good design. I would like to make my own jackscrew and the best I can tell
the piper jackscrew is 5/8" 6 threads per inch. Is this the same as industrial threaded
rod 5/8" 6 TPI that I can buy from a machinist supply company like Enco or MSC? I
want to custom make the jackscrew to fit my design, but want it to mate up thread-wise
with a standard super-cub Yoke.
Also on the Supercub is one (upper) spring/cable used to connect elevator to trim yoke.
In looking at the PA-18 parts manual the lower spring/cable seems to be required only
for a few models mainly when floats are used. Am I correct in that only the upper is
required?
