I read with interest the comment from Don's Dream Machines about the M20 bearing issue. I have been dealing with this since June 2021. I had a middle bearing go bad which necessitated a crank grind on an already 10 under crank to 20 under. Then things got complicated. My understanding is that Aircraft Specialties used to make the bearings for this STC, but now they are manufactured by Superior. Different part number by a different manufacturer. Lots of confused responses to phone calls and plenty of non returned calls or just plain nothing to a inquiry from Superior. They had to provide the engineering documentation for the change in the STC. I am sure that that the Covid bunker mentality of the FAA contributed, but it has been a discouraging 10 months without an engine.
