Light Speed cheapie noise canceling headsets?

Deaf guy here - I use David Clark H10-13.4 exclusively. The airplane I am picking up has light speed "cheapie" with fresh batteries.

So, opinions, please. Take my headset in my carry-on, or just trust that I will be able to hear with Lightspeed?

I will hit only about three towered airports. Rest of the time it will be mostly earplugs. Icom A-6 radio, external antenna.
