My father collected Franklin engines and parts and pieces for years. He was always very proud that his Cub came from the factory with a Franklin and stayed that way. I always wondered what he was going to do with the hangar full of these old engines and parts. Well, what he did was give them all to me... So the question now is, what am I going to do with all these engines and parts. I've gotten to the point in my life that I decided I better do something with them instead of letting them sit around and collect more dust.
So this thread will be all about disassembling several 4AC-176 engines. I have about 13 engines, varying in their completeness and usable parts. I also have a pretty decent stock of "New Old Stock" parts my dad bought and collected through the years. All told, I believe I should have enough parts to put together about 8 good engines. This thread will also highlight a few differences between the 65 hp Franklins and the 65 hp Continentals and Lycomings. So let's start the process of turning these (I apologize about the cruddy picture quality):
