I call on the experts ;-)
Continuing the restoration of our french 1942 Piper L-4B and cleaning the 2 gear vee assembly of the landing gear, we finded that they are not similar.
Our plane in the past (in 1990) made a hard landing, breaking off a part of the landing gear, so a landing gear vee had to be changed.
One og the landing gear vee has a horizontal bar on which we sticks the covering of gear, this part is in U-shaped fabric and the other in round tube (see photos below).
More info, the diameter of the vertical front tube of the landing gear vee is slightly lower tha the other one.
We only would like to know what will be the oldest leg of the train or the original one?
It is the U-tube or round tube ? What do you have on your L-4s?
Thank you
