Guys (and gals?),
It is very interesting to see and hear about all of the L-4 components with original paint still applied, such as "Original 1945 L-4J top cowl rear section assy" in the previous topic and "Factory original L-4 horizontal stabilizer" on 10/08/11. While I am sure that somebody, somewhere is amassing a "complete" collection of these period items and paint samples, I am (just) smart enough to know that EVERYBODY has an opinion on what olive drab is correct, and that I should keep out of that argument.
That said......... all of these original items are revealing a large number of operational stencils and Piper Aircraft Corp part number stencils, etc., which most restorations don't seem to carry. So I have a question?
Does anybody have a complete set of what would have been the factory fresh or delivery stencils for the L-4A/B/H/J, or the J-3 for that matter?
It does not take a rocket scientist (or A&P) to realize that if somebody offered a set of these stencils, pre-cut on card sheets, etc., then dozens if not low hundreds of L-4 operators might wish to purchase a complete set of stencils as a flat pack, I certainly would be interested in such details.
Any thoughts?
Joe
