The elevator bungee trim, "helper spring" was optional on the J5A and I believe was mandatory on the J3 Seaplane(edit, some depending on the floats). It consists of a spring and cable attached to the top elevator horn which gos forward through a pulley attached to the forward rudder attach bolt and then down to attach to the jackscrew yoke. (The system was later used on other heavier Pipers, PA-18 and PA22 for example, which had it on both top and bottom).
Back to the J5/J3. How does the cable attach to the jackscrew yoke. What I'm getting at, is a new jackscrew yoke needed or can the original be used somehow? Maybe drilled/tapped or ..?
Need a little understanding before I call Univair.
BTSW, Glen has a part's manual for the J5 that shows the system but it's unclear if there were different yoke part numbers?
Thanks,
Jack
(Edit. Indeed the clamp is on the J5 drawings and if I would have looked at them a 3rd time maybe this entire thread could have been avoided?)
