Hello Group. I just returned from a long trip with 1939 J3C-65 cub serial number 3778 on my trailer.

I know nothing about cubs whatsoever. This will be my first aircraft restoration.

Upon unloading each component these are my initial observations.

Crack'd Spar stands out as the worst but?????? wing has corrosion present in all areas. very light, but present none the less. most ribs and inside leading edges. When i get more into the project i will be seeking assistance on how to approach each fix. In the meantime i will be getting the technical books and planning how to tackle this project.

These items will definitely need replacing:

Tip bows(came with) - trailing edges - cables

1 Spar is in need of repair or replacement. I was told by previous owner that it was an easy fix and a doubler would suffice as its in a "non-structural" area. After having 17 hrs each direction to mull it over i have reached the conclusion.....what part of the spar is non structural???

Fuselage is pretty much ready or so i thought. minimal surface rust is present in some areas. I would like to believe that the proper steps were taken prior to the green primer but with visible rust i plan to just start this project all over.

Well, this is pretty much where i am at and i am planning to spend 2 or so years for the total resto. probably longer. this is an endeavor for my 12 yr old son and i to complete todgether.

Looking fwd to participating in the group.

Arik
