I know the obvious differences, but was curious to others thoughts on these two variants...

I fly a PA18-95 out of a 800' grass strip, the performance is excellent with clean approaches on one side only. I understand the J3 will probably float more depending on my technique at the end with obstacles, and thus use up more grass, I normally approach @about 50mph and land within 200 to 250 feet with no wind. I don't need the useful load of the PA-18-95, and thought, I could get a J3-C-90 or C-85, probably get a little better performance, and perhaps save a little $ for fuel. Also, I like to hand prop and the front seat would allow me to store photo gear, when flying solo. I'm also curious about what others are able to pack into their J3's? Most of our flying is local with the occasional cross country. I flew the PA-18-95 for over a thousand miles on one, and saw similar performance of a J3, albeit, longer range and a little more airspeed.
