J3 Cub Buyer's Guide???

Howdy all, new to the forum and looking to purchase a J3.

Is there a "buyers guide" for J3s to help someone walk through the process of buying one of these planes? Like a list of questions to ask someone over the phone to get a better idea of what is actually for sale?

For example, and I have no clue what I am talking about.
Type of struts
who did the restoration
how was the airframe checked for rust
type of wing spars
any modifications
type of covering

Any help would be appreciated. Also curious if it is worth my $s to find someone knowledgeable about the airframes to do a prebuy inspection.
