Hi all. I'm going to look at a 1940 J-3 next week. The owner said the front seat had been moved back 3 inches for his height. (header tank removed and 2 wing tanks installed, solo from either seat) My question is how the front seat is installed/mounted? Is it bolted, and can be adjusted, to frame or is it welded? Or is it attached to the flooring? My limited knowledge of J-3's had me thinking that the front seat was in a fixed and not adjustable position. I ordered the FAA cd and saw nothing of a seat move or modification. I have not seen the logbooks yet but will next week. I'm also concerned with the travel of the rear stick with the seat moved back as I will probably do most flying from there.

Thanks,
Bill
